ARTIST CHATO

The Internationally renowned Apache Artist, Actor, and Writer Ruben Chato Hinojosa Jr., is an enrolled tribal member at the Lipan Apache Tribe of Texas #1691. He embraces his spiritual life as well as creativity within all of his life’s experiences inspired by the light of our heavenly father. This is one of his quotes for our universe, “Be a peaceful warrior in the path of life, but be a fierce warrior in the path of fight”, and his grandfather Neto was the inspiration for that. When Ruben joined the U.S Navy his grandfather Neto said to him, “Remember that you will be living proof that I existed”! They were the last words they both ever spoke. Ruben loves to write stories, which are now being communicated into novels. His first novel “THUNDER the Warriors” is anticipated to introduce a new modern-day Apache Warrior. Ruben knows adversities first-hand. He is an advocate for Veterans and people with disabilities as well as the Brain Aneurysm Foundation (Survivor 2012). Art is an instrument of healing! He served honorably in the United States Navy for almost 10 years in various duties and traveling to over 18 countries. Having served proudly during wartime and peacetime amid experiences in the Naval Amphibious Fleet Task Force, Boat House LPO, Special Warfare community (SBU/SWCC & Bud/s SEAL training class 207, a non-graduate). Encompassed with other military branches has been an educational experience of a lifetime that has engraved a military bond of brotherhood which is irreplaceable.

He is a working actor and member of SAG AFTRA Union since 2001 using the name Ruben H. Chato. He attended Golden West College while on active duty, then at Mesa College in San Diego California, majoring in Fine Art, Sculpture, Honors Art History and Honors World Music (Rosa Parks Music Scholarship). He was celebrated as “Artist Chato”, and acknowledged as a “Modern-day expressionist” expressing his deep feelings and emotions. This is seen in all his originals and limited-editions fine art paintings on wood panels in addition to his powerful Sculptures, which are his Nalwodi and Happiness series collections. He is extremely generous giving back to our world in so many ways and is accepted for his numerous donations of original artworks on a global scale.

Ruben is also a professional American Indian Flute performer. His first CD was titled “Peaceful Warrior” performing with his flutes, and heard on several of the “Instruments of Peace” CD’s for the Rosa Parks Music Institute. It was a humbling way to give back to her foundation after receiving a Rosa Parks World Music Scholarship in 2002. Hopefully Artist Chato will be remembered for being altruistic and showing the world how much he loved humanity, life and his existence.
