Chato's art is difficult to place within a specific style category. But clearly has been influenced by American Indian themes, Nature, Twentieth-century abstraction, Landscapes, and the Ocean.

His paintings are large scale two and four feet wide on wooden panels, and he also has a love for pencils on paper, and erotic nudes with live models in soft pastels.

Studied art under Anita Brynof, Lea Yonker and Hiro Miazaki at Mesa College. The artist who has truly inspired him is Gene Locklear.
